This beautiful nightjar was rescued and rehabilitated by the lovely Carly from Gabo Wildlife. I was lucky enough to get to witness her release. While in Pembrokeshire I took a boat trip to see one of the world’s largest gannet colonies on Grassholm Island. You can’t land on this small island and it’s 10 miles offshore, I didn’t anticipate how difficult it would be trying to photograph them from a small boat which was rocking about all over the place 🤢 What a sight though, thousands of them. They are huge with up to a 2 metre wingspan. Record shots for me as I’d never seen one before. I went back to Skomer Island hoping to see more puffins. The trip I booked was cancelled due to the northerly wind making landing dangerous but I managed to get another one a few days later. Sadly barely any puffins left but I saw this one as I was coming back on the boat.
